Rant about Yahoo MyBlogLog
A wee rant…
I decided on a lark to set up a MyBlogLog account to see if there was any benefit to be gained from their blog promotion service. In fact, I promptly forgot that I actually set the thing up, until I began seeing my face (they encourage posting an image or avatar for your identity) show up on blogs I would visit.
I decided that this was something I didn’t really want. No problem, just kill the account, right? Whoops — Yahoo bought them. Crap, I’m getting Flickr deja vu, and now I’m forced to merge my Yahoo ID. So I remove the MBL account a few days ago, and guess what — my mug is still showing up!
I’m reading others who are not impressed with the service. The world seems to have an insatiable appetite for lame social media applications, don’t they?

Hi Michael,
That’s strange. Once you delete an account from MyBlogLog, there’s not image for the widget to retrieve and display. Another way to be sure is to delete any cookies on with the ‘mybloglog.com’ string in it. The delete tab should have done this for you but just in case.

There must be a glitch caused by your merger with Yahoo IDs. Earlier this week I logged into MyBlogLog after I saw my face on a comment at Darren Barefoot’s blog:

I clicked my image and went to your website. I followed the steps for the ID merge with Yahoo. Then I chose Delete Account. Several days later my MBL face is still showing up at Darren’s blog.
I click again, and try to login with my Yahoo ID. It doesn’t remember me, and asks me to login with my email address. But the account is deleted, so I can’t.
Deleting the MyBlogLog cookies didn’t seem to help.
Very frustrating.
