People forget that Microsoft used to be in Vancouver

I wrote about the subject of Microsoft opening a new studio in Vancouver over at my Thinking Cap business blog. People forget that Microsoft used to have a Vancouver-based operation in the early 1990s. They bought a company named Consumer Software creating an email client that would be the foundation for Microsoft Exchange, later Microsoft Outlook.

Often Vancouver fails to recognize its huge contribution to music, culture and technology. Outlook is arguably the most successful software application in history, and it has its foundations at a small company in Gastown.

Just thought I’d point that out.
