More yellow pages?? Time to ban these books.

Yellow Pages have a fat kid brother called CanPages, a new directory that we’re all getting whether we like it or not. Have a read of this press release based on a highly questionable market survey. Brothers and sisters, are you truly “frustrated” that phone directories only cover your city and not the whole metropolitan area?

Better to ask, do you actually use these things???

The largest growing demographic of internet users are seniors, who are presumably the only group still attached to the yellow books. I just don’t get it.

Here’s a guess. The phone company makes its money licensing out the rights to distribute phone books to its service subscribers? Better to license 2 companies to do this, right? I can’t verify this, but someone it making a lot of money, and it ain’t the companies that place ads in Canpages.

Any customer of mine who used to run Yellow Pages ads tell me that their business from the book is down 90%, with the rest of it made up by traffic to their websites.

I’ve already demonstrated what to do with Yellow Pages, but here it is again in case you missed it.
