Stormriding, the new extreme sport

ewa wisnierska: hang in there, baby
Ewa: Hang in there, babe

This story about paraglider who was sucked up by a storm to altitudes shared by jumbo jets is absolutely unbelievable.

Quoting the Syndey Morning Herald, "A [Polish-born] paraglider survived lightning, pounding hail, minus 40-degree temperatures…Ewa Wisnierska, 35, passed out due to a lack of oxygen and flew unconscious for up to an hour covered in ice after reaching an altitude of 9947 metres."

Ewa has performed perhaps the most extreme act of extreme sport in the history of extremeness. Tragically a fellow glider from China didn't survive the experience, and their body was found 97 kms from their base. But Ewa returned, encrusted in ice and with only frostbitten ears.

Should we ever doubt why women from Central Europe always kick ass at the Olympics? You watch — it's only a matter of time before these überfrau will prevail over the rest of us couch potatoes.
