Rick Mercer’s Chubby White Guys

Here's Rick Mercer's take on today's same sex marriage vote in the House of Commons. A modest proposal, he hears, is being devised by Canada's New Gov't™ to have a wee re-think on most minority rights, and by drawing the rights out of a hat during caucus meetings it will help to keep it fair.

At this year’s [Christmas] party, each member will be blindfolded and they will draw a slip of paper out of the box! That slip of paper is their present to them and to Canada.

Imagine the hilarity that will ensue when Justice Minister Vic Toewes stands up and says “This year my Christmas gift is a motion to debate whether Hindus can own property in New Brunswick.”

I can hear the laughter from here.

Mercer is a one-man army of funny, a comedic Rambo if you like, that helps to make up for the fact that Canada and Canadians are really not very funny these days.
